talech and Elavon
talech is an Elavon product. Elavon is a global merchant acquirer and payments company, and a wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp. It began as NOVA Information Systems, which U.S. Bancorp announced it would acquire in 2001, and took the Elavon name in 2008 as the business expanded internationally. Elavon Canada provides domestic acquiring with bilingual support and Canada-specific compliance.
That matters in practice: a talech till runs on an Elavon merchant account, and the rate on that account is what you actually pay every month. We quote cost-plus (interchange-plus), so the card network’s cost and our margin appear as separate lines you can read.
