About Nuvei

Nuvei is a Canadian payments company headquartered in Montreal. It was founded there in 2003 by Philip Fayer as Pivotal Payments, grew through acquisitions across Canada and the United States, and rebranded to Nuvei in 2018 to reflect a broader global strategy.

Further acquisitions, including SafeCharge, widened both its capabilities and its international footprint. Nuvei completed a landmark initial public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2020 — at the time the largest technology IPO in Canadian history — and later listed on Nasdaq as well.

In November 2024 Nuvei completed a take-private transaction valued at approximately US$6.3 billion, led by Advent International alongside Philip Fayer, Novacap and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. Its shares were subsequently delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, and the company remains headquartered in Montreal.

For Canadian merchants that means deep domestic roots: card acquiring and alternative payment methods built for Canadian retail, service and online commerce, including cross-border needs.
